Explore the Wyoming Wilderness in Firewatch Tomorrow

Tomorrow one of PS4’s first big hits of the year is coming out: Firewatch. But it seems like one of those games that is not all that quietly slipping under the radar. So what is Firewatch exactly?

Firewatch puts you in the shoes of a character by the name of Henry who has taken a job working as a fire lookout in Wyoming. He took the job to get away from his life that hasn’t been going all that great. From what we know you spend time doing menial tasks around the area such as getting rid of teens that are partying by the lake or checking for fire dangers. You keep in contact with another character by the name of Delilah, your boss, on your hand held radio. This is where I think Firewatch is really going to shine.

The ways that the characters interact (or don’t as you can choose to not respond and she can get annoyed and ignore you) is very natural and can be very revealing of both their characters. As they interact you can make choices on what Henry says similar to say The Walking Dead or Life is Strange. Just watch the video below, courtesy of IGN, to get an idea of how this works.

Eventually things take a turn for the mysterious when Henry discovers a figure on a hill watching him and that the tower he has been working out of has been broken into. This is the mystery that has been eluded to but has been kept close to the vest by the creators. But as I said we’ll soon find out what’s going on and how Henry and Delilah as well as their interactions are going to deal with it.

So maybe I’m a bit partial since I grew up in Wyoming but I’m looking forward to spending some time in a virtual Wyoming forest. And I’m also looking forward to what seems like some really good writing and storytelling. It looks very promising to say the least and could be a great start for PS4 this year. What do you think?

Might be interesting. If it's like Life is Strange then count me in.

Btw, nice first article to the site.

Hope it's like Life is Strange. We need more games like that!

Very intrigued by this game. Seems like the writing is very well done. Although, just like The Witness, I'll bet it will be a free PS plus game, or at least very reduced price in a few months. I saw that you can pre-order on Steam for $18, but didn't see anything about price on PSN.
Do you know how much it will be?
Crap, maybe I'm just a cheap-ass.

Last I heard it was something like that at about 20 bucks or something similar. But if you're willing to wait I suppose you could. Might be waiting awhile though.

Nice first article!

I like the detective work that seems to have to go into it. You should review it when it comes out!

Been looking forward to this since the E3 trailer, and everything I've seen/read of it since has only increased my interest. Definitely downloading it right away tomorrow, and I hope it brings a lot of success to Campo Santo.

As an ex-volunteer firefighter back through the late 80's, I want this game(although being a forest firefighter is a completely different & much harder & a more dangerous beast)!

BTW, I also have an extensive firefighting memorabilia collection too, & even owned my very onw fire truck for a time, a 25 foot Seagrave hydrant pumper with a gas powered V-12 Pierce Arrow engine.
I finally had to sell it because it was costing me over $80 a week in gas just to run it locally(and gas was only around $1.05 to $1.10 back then).

But why were you driving it around?

Overberg,

Locally: Township & holiday parades, and also for Fire Company housing(where a fire company receives their new truck & invites any & all other Fire Companies to bring either their best new truck or their oldest pride & joy, and then compete for trophies, prizes, &/or cash.

Farther distances: firefighter memorabilia shows and fire truck competitions.

Overberg,

Locally:
Participating in township & holiday parades, also participating in huge private & public fire memorabilia shows.
And also competing in Fire Company housings & dedications(when a fire Company receives & wants to show off their new truck & invites any & all Fire companies to attend.
These involved a local fire truck parade, and then a fire truck show & competition for the newest & grandest Fire Trucks & also for the oldest & most well-maintained truck, plus trophies for the furthest distance traveled/straight as the crow flies too(meaning: in a straight line using maps & measuring tapes).

Further distances: usually only fire memorabilia shows & Fire Co housing/dedications.

In nine shows, I've won 5 second place trophies for oldest best truck(1 absolutely gorgeous older truck came to almost every same show I did & beat constantly beat me for 1st place), and I got 1 trophy for longest distance(Atlantic City outskirts to Wilmington Delaware, about 130 miles round-trip(costing me about $140 in gas).

Yes indeed, why wouldn't/shouldn't I drive it every chance I got!!!!!

BTW, I only had what's call "historic auto parade insurance" in New Jersey on my truck, which only allows you to go to, and participate in shows, housings, parades, and any local after-fixes maintance runs, and only allowed 2'500 miles yearly.

What I was "NOT" allowed to do was to do any regular ole pleasure rides, but I found every excuse known to man to take the chance & go pleasure riding with my 1953 Seagrave pumper.
Just getting all the whistles, waving, & car honking as I went past was, was way cooler than cool & more than worth the risk.
And I never got caught during any of my joy-rides" either.

I was watching an extended preview of Firewatch some months ago and I was thinking "If only this game would come out on the PS4".

Seems like dreams do come true!
